History for the People - US History

Learn the true US History most textbooks omit, an anti-bias approach built from Howard Zinn’s A Young People’s History of the United States. Typically, history is told by those who are in power, which too often gives a white washed and inaccurate perspective. This class does the opposite, encouraging critical thinking and discussion to learn how history has led us to where we are now and what we can do to improve the future.This is a young activist’s history class, using historical videos, readings and interactive projects to support students in making connections and drawing their own conclusions. Each class ends with animal time interactions with our resident exotic animals.

*Students who sign up for both English Literature Club and History for the People qualify for the Monday Middle School Homeschool Package discount of $270 per month or $850 per semester and can stay for lunch between the two classes at no extra charge.

HOMESCHOOL: This class meets academic standards and includes documented learning samples sent home every class.
